Emilio Sorridente muove i suoi primi passi suonando rock-blues, genere che lo appassiona da sempre. Ed è proprio il blues, unito alla psichedelia inglese degli anni ’70, il bacino da cui l’artista attingerà negli anni per formare il proprio stile chitarristico e vocale. Arriva il 1998 ed Emilio forma gli Illusion, gruppo rock psichedelico con cui inciderà il primo disco di canzoni inedite (Mind Illusion Live) che rimane nelle classifiche di  ascolto su Mp3.com per un anno di fila e riceve ottime recensioni. Finita l’esperienza con gli Illusion, Emilio rafforza il suo background blues e inizia a sperimentare le slide guitars e le lap steel, sotto il segno di Robert Johnson e del Delta del Mississippi. E’ questo il periodo della collaborazione con Frank Vinci, uno dei migliori bluesman italiani, con il quale Emilio instaurerà un rapporto di collaborazione che si sarebbe ripetuto diversi anni più tardi (Frank suonerà nel primo disco degli Encelado assieme a Mick Brill e Lucrezio de Seta nella title track) e che dura tuttora.

Il ritorno al rock più sanguigno avviene quando nel 2003 Emilio incontra Sasha Torrisi, ex dei Timoria, con il quale scrive tre nuove canzoni per l’album solista del vocalist e lo accompagna nella promozione del progetto. Degni di menzione sono il bellissimo concerto alla Casa della Musica a Parma e la partecipazione all’Emergency Festival a Sondrio.

Siamo nel 2005 ed Emilio è pronto a mettere su carta le proprie idee ed iniziare un percorso che sfocerà nella formazione degli Encelado. Dopo un ‘buen retiro’ di un anno, Emilio torna pieno di quadri, canzoni e poesie e inizia la lavorazione del primo disco degli Encelado, Anomalia di sistema, che vedrà tutte le sue influenze fuse in un unico stile. Rock, psichedelia, blues, brit-pop e una ghost track in perfetto stile jazz-blues – con Giovanni De Sossi, contrabbassista (Bruno Tommaso Orchestra, Sergio Cammariere) e Vittorino Naso (già percussionista con i maestri Piovani e Morricone –  alla batteria). Nel frattempo Emilio esce con il suo primo progetto solista, sonorizzando 7 poesie di Joseph Caristena,  per il quale il chitarrista ha prodotto sette brani strumentali che fanno parte di un progetto – reading che unisce gli umori ambient- psichedelici ad immagini e parole. Bones finisce in un docu-film visionario della regista tedesca Natasa Von Kopp e viene proiettato a svariati festival, tra cui quello del cinema indipendente di Istanbul e alla Akademie der Kunste a Berlino. Nel 2010, dopo aver girato su e giù per l’Italia, a volte con ospiti illustri sul palco (a Brescia, ad esempio, Capitan Fede Poggipollini) gli Encelado si prendono una pausa di 5 anni (interrotta temporaneamente nell’estate 2013) ed è la volta di Reality Show, un concept-album dagli spunti interessanti. Il periodo successivo vede Emilio impegnato in un progetto blues con l’immancabile Giovanni De Sossi  e diversi session-man, i BBKnights. Con loro il chitarrista ospiterà nell’estate 2013 per due concerti l’indimenticata leggenda del blues in Italia: Roberto Ciotti. L’ultimo freak-out sono stati i Black Seeds, bellissimo side-project  con Vincenzo Tropepe dei Walking Trees e Carmelo Morabito dei SGL, con Emilio impegnato al basso per l’occasione. Nell’ottobre 2014, dopo l’esperienza al Tropea Blues Festival, ha ospitato per uno show gli inglesi Will Tang (Blackstone Conspiracy), armonicista e vocalist, e Patrick Murdoch (Simply Red, Pretenders), chitarrista, oltre ad averli invitati a registrare in studio due pezzi che immortalano l’immediato feeling creatosi con la band.

From The Shell, il nuovo lavoro discografico di Emilio, esce con la RNC Music a febbraio 2016 in formato digitale e a maggio dello stesso anno nella versione in vinile curata assieme a Mimmo Muratori. E’ ancora una volta frutto della voglia di sperimentare del chitarrista: quasi interamente strumentale, From the shell si rivela infatti un album con sonorità ambient-psichedeliche e frutto di un lungo lavoro in studio. Presentato in anteprima al tropea Festival Leggere & Scrivere, l’album contiene il singolo Love will find you, scritto a quattro mani con Michael Orzek e masterizzato dal leggendario Andy Jackson, sound engineer dei Pink Floyd. Nell’Aprile 2017 il disco riceve il Best Art Vinyl Italy per la copertina in vinile più bella d’Italia, opera di Carmelo Marturano e Doc Mùrdaka. Nel corso delle date del 2018 Emilio e la band hanno ospitato il leggendario John ‘Twink’ Alder per un concerto al Museo Del Rock di Catanzaro (nel corso del quale il celebre album Think Pink è stato eseguito per intero, senza interruzioni, per la prima volta a quasi 50 anni dalla sua uscita) e il virtuoso Gary Lucas, grandissimo chitarrista e collaboratore di Jeff Buckley. Nel marzo 2019 Emilio collabora dal vivo e in studio con Martin ‘Youth’ Glover, bassista dei Killing Joke, leggendario produttore (Pink Floyd, Verve e Cranberries tra tanti) e fondatore dei Fireman insieme a Paul McCartney. Con Youth fonda i Dream Symposium e registra il primo album Green Electric Muse, che è stato pubblicato nel luglio 2020 dalla londinese Youth Sounds Records.
